Yellow Book Audits - These audits are based on standards issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Yellow Book auditors require 80 hours of continuing education annually in addition to the other requirements for state licensure. Yellow Book audits derived their names from the original issuance of standards which were literally printed in a yellow book.
Single Audits - Single audits are Yellow Book audits that are required by the Federal Government for entities that spend more than $750,000 in Federal award money. These audits are submitted to the Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC) for distribution to the multiple agencies which fund the entity's expenditures. Single audits require additional examination to assure the agencies that the money was spent according to the rules of the award.
